Düsseldorf, August 12, 2026 – COCUS AG is a partner of xG-ALOE, the ecosystem for private 5G enterprise networks coordinated by the Fraunhofer Institute for Communications, Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI). Through this partnership, COCUS is expanding its commitment to open and interoperable mobile communications solutions and bringing its experience from connectivity projects for ports, airports, manufacturing and automotive sites, and other industries to the consortium. Private 5G networks are a central component of COCUS’s comprehensive 5G platform, which provides customers with the foundation for automation, digitalization, and innovation.
In its projects, COCUS regularly faces the challenge that network components from different manufacturers do not work together seamlessly. For companies in manufacturing, logistics, and other industries, open interfaces and verified interoperability are therefore essential for operating private cellular networks cost-effectively and reliably implementing applications such as automation, real-time data processing, and predictive maintenance.
Through its membership in xG-ALOE, COCUS is positioning itself within an ecosystem built on the CampusOS research project, which aims to strengthen Germany as a hub for open 5G enterprise networks. In addition to COCUS, the initiative includes more than 25 partners from the research sector, including Fraunhofer HHI, Fraunhofer IIS, TU Berlin, TU Dresden, and the University of Passau, as well as from industry and technology. Together, the partners are developing a catalog of verified components, test environments, and working groups; the interoperability of components from different manufacturers is tested in practice during regular plugfest events.
COCUS brings its experience from numerous customer projects, including its own core network and a broad catalog of Industry 4.0 use cases, to the working groups and plugfest tests. In return, the company leverages direct collaboration with research and industry to further develop its portfolio of private 5G solutions and validate them in real-world environments. For COCUS customers, this means more network components that have been tested for interoperability with systems from other manufacturers and can therefore be integrated more flexibly into existing infrastructures.
COCUS will continue to actively participate in xG-ALOE’s working groups and future plugfests in the coming months to help shape interoperability standards for private cellular networks. In doing so, the company is continuously expanding its portfolio of tested, compatible solutions for customers in manufacturing, logistics, and other industries.
