From 26 to 28 November, PMRExpo in Cologne provided a platform for users and experts from industry, public authorities and research who rely on secure communication. This year’s expo focussed on the latest technologies for safety-critical applications, from robust communication to innovative monitoring solutions. COCUS was represented both as an exhibitor with its own stand and as part of a 5G Summit Panel on site at the PMR trade fair.
Trends and Topics at PMRExpo in Cologne 2024
The PMRExpo in Cologne once again showed that security-critical communication systems play a key role in many industries, especially when it comes to KRITIS (critical infrastructures). At its stand, COCUS provided information about its services in connection with the core topics of this year’s PMR trade fair. These include:
-
Protected and reliable communication:
Secure and low-latency data transmission solutions that ensure stable communication between people and machines. This is particularly crucial in challenging environments such as Industry 4.0 or in the public sector. -
Early anomaly detection:
Advanced monitoring technologies can help minimise downtime by detecting problems before they become real faults. This significantly increases operational safety, which is particularly relevant in sensitive areas such as energy and water supply. -
Proactive surveillance and security:
AI-supported camera systems enable proactive hazard analysis. This allows unauthorised access and potential security risks to be detected and reported at an early stage. This is particularly relevant for large-scale industrial plants or public facilities.
COCUS as Part of the 5G Summit Panel
This year, we were part of an exciting 5G Summit panel at PMRExpo. In the panel discussion ‘Implementation of 5G Campus Networks – Do’s & Don’ts’, we exchanged experiences and best practices as experts for 5G campus networks together with other specialists. The panel provided a valuable opportunity to share deeper insights into the challenges and successes of implementing private 5G networks. Our focus areas were:
- Best practices for the implementation of private 5G networks
- Project insights on security, control and flexibility
- Fulfilment of the high requirements of critical infrastructures
In the discussion, we were able to show how private 5G networks can not only increase efficiency, but also security and reliability in demanding environments.
PMRExpo Booth: Safety-Critical & Robust Campus2Go Solutions
At our stand, visitors were also able to experience live how private 5G networks can be customised for specific applications. We demonstrated how companies can benefit from comprehensive networking and secure data transmission:
-
Remote inspection & maintenance with drones:
5G-based use cases can enable safe and efficient inspections in hard-to-reach areas. This not only leads to reduced downtimes, but also to improved occupational safety. -
Advanced resource optimisation:
Our customers increase their operational efficiency by making precise forecasts and real-time decisions based on intelligent data analyses. This is particularly valuable for companies in manufacturing or logistics that are always looking for ways to optimise their processes. -
Hands-on augmented reality support:
By combining 5G and augmented reality (AR), on-site maintenance work can be supported in real time. This speeds up troubleshooting and reduces costly downtime. -
Comprehensive connectivity:
COCUS solutions offer full control over private 5G networks, which is a major advantage especially in the KRITIS industry.
The Importance of Private 5G Networks for the Future of Secure Communication
The PMRExpo provided an opportunity to shed light on current KRITIS and industry challenges and to break down the benefits of private 5G network solutions for mission-critical communications. Industries and businesses are currently looking for solutions that offer them full control, flexibility and security. Private 5G networks offer exactly these benefits:
-
Secure and flexible:
Private 5G networks provide a secure basis for applications that require high security standards. -
Scalability for industry:
Private networks are customisable and scalable, making them ideal for large industrial facilities, manufacturing plants and critical infrastructure. -
Real-time data and forecasts:
Organisations can make informed decisions by accessing accurate real-time data through the private 5G network.
