Development of a private 5G platform for the seaport of Wismar
The seaport of Wismar is relying on a private 5G infrastructure as the digital backbone for safety-critical and operational applications. In collaboration with COCUS, a high-performance platform has been developed that reliably connects the extensive port area and centrally integrates camera, sensor and communication solutions. In this way, the port is laying the foundations for greater safety, more efficient processes and the expansion of further digital applications.
Goals
- Establishment of comprehensive and reliable connectivity across the entire port site
- Enhanced security through intelligent monitoring of the site, hazardous areas and critical infrastructure
- Establishment of a scalable digital infrastructure for future security and automation applications
- Improved responsiveness through automated real-time detection and alerting
- Reduction in operational and maintenance costs through a centralised, private 5G infrastructure
- Creation of a future-proof platform for further digital applications and automation
- Reducing staff and inspection costs through automated processes
- Ensuring the efficient and long-term maintenance of photovoltaic systems for continuous energy generation
-
Early detection of safety-related issues to minimise risk and enhance safety
A foundation for implementing further use cases on our own 5G network for building management and security management, such as site monitoring and exhibitor support.
“With private 5G, the Port of Wismar has a secure and reliable backbone for the entire port area. Real-time detection and alerting improve responsiveness, the centralised infrastructure reduces operational and maintenance costs, and the platform is ready for further digital applications.”
