Automated bulk material measurement and safety monitoring using 5G camera and LiDAR technology
Technische Betriebe Solingen (TBS) relies on a 5G-based solution developed by COCUS that combines automated bulk material measurement, safety monitoring and intelligent data processing. The infrastructure comprises a total of 15 outdoor storage units, which will be equipped with high-precision LiDAR sensors from the manufacturer Blickfeld and 5G-capable cameras. All sensors communicate via the existing COCUS 5G campus network, while dedicated application software processes the LiDAR data and manages the video data.
Goals
- Automated recording & analysis of bulk material volumes in real time
- Implementation of a video management system for the storage and intelligent evaluation of collected image data
- Enhanced security on the premises through data protection-compliant AI-supported object recognition

- Automated & precise inventory management without manual measurements
- Increased safety through real-time monitoring and AI-supported analysis for rapid action
- Scalable and expandable platform for other use cases
