COCUS at the Connect Conference 2022

hands-on 5G mobile private network

This year the Connect Conference finally took place on site again and COCUS was there live as partner, exhibitor & speaker! Our standalone 5G campus network incl. 5G industry showcases could be experienced by all visitors in practice directly on site during the entire duration of the event. This exclusive event with the who’s who of the telecommunications industry took place this time in the middle of Dresden’s city center at the Hilton Hotel.

This year’s Connect Conference features 30 top-class speakers on the topics of fixed-line, mobile & connectivity, as well as exciting presentations and discussion panels aimed at experts and interested trade audiences. Trends & communication technologies of the future are the focus here. Of course, the 5G Open-RAN based campus network from COCUS was not to be missed: On both days of the event, visitors could experience our compact, local 5G campus network in operation in the foyer, which was set up especially for the event. Various use cases have demonstrated the interaction of private 5G networks and applications in industry, such as robots, in practice.

The future fair also focused on the sustainability and energy efficiency of mobile networks, the benefits of Open RAN, and the transformation of telecommunications companies into comprehensive service providers for business customers and consumers. Fittingly, the COCUS has published a presentation titled “What awaits us with 5G? – 5G Open-RAN Campus Networks in Practice” provided insights into current and already implemented 5G customer projects from various industries. These include projects from logistics, such as at the seaport of Wismar, universities, such as the cooperation with the Rhine Bonn Sieg University of Applied Sciences and Fraunhofer FIT, and from the automotive sector. On Day 2, Sascha Hellermann took us on a cross-industry journey on the Main Stage and explained “5G from facts to benefits – why every industry can benefit from 5G campus networks” incl. of the technical implications.

We would like to thank all our colleagues on site, the organizers from WEKA Media Publishing as well as all visitors and are happy about all the new contacts that were made.
