The 5GMasters event series from VATM accompanies the rapid developments in the telecommunications market and regularly invites the most important and renowned experts in the field of 5G to events. We were invited as exclusive interview partners together with 1&1 Telecommunication SE and Rakuten to discuss what will change in the German mobile market in the future with the help of Open-RAN.
5GMasters in high demand
With more than 170 participants from many different areas of business, insightful contributions and a lively discussion, the 5GMasters lecture on 27.10.2021 was a complete success.
Michael Martin, Member of the Board of Management at 1&1 Telecommunication SE gave the participants of the 5G Masters event insights into their plans to implement a highly efficient 5G mobile network in Germany. In cooperation with 1&1 AG, 1&1 Versatel and infrastructure partners, Rakuten implements design, planning as well as construction and operation of the public mobile network.
The presentation by 1&1 was followed by the presentation by COCUS AG, in which our Sascha Hellermann explained how Open-RAN based 5G enables the deployment of private campus networks for any industry. With the 5G Campus network, we offer an alternative to a traditional mobile network for industrial use cases through the Open-RAN approach, which separates hardware and software. Similar to cloud approaches, complete virtualization based on standard hardware and software components is used for this purpose.
The COCUS 5G Open-RAN based campus network includes all necessary hardware and software components for the deployment and operation of an own 5G campus network solution on site. The system is delivered in a fully installed and configured 19″ rack together with the required radio cells and commissioned on site.
