At the Navigator Festival, our specialist gave an insight into how we implement smart AI solutions for several industries and which factors are crucial for success.
Intelligent applications with AI – what matters
Whether automated object recognition, intelligent data analysis or predictive process optimisation – the areas of application for AI today extend across many industries and use cases. But how can AI be used successfully in practice and what factors are crucial for AI applications to create the greatest possible added value?
Two examples from our projects in port logistics and telecommunications show how we have specifically trained and optimised AI solutions to deliver more accurate results and more precise applications for our customers.
Port of Trier – smart detection of occupied tracks with AI
To increase efficiency in port operations, an AI-supported camera monitoring system was introduced that automatically recognises free and occupied track segments. Recognition accuracy has been significantly improved through targeted retraining with real image data from the port. The solution optimises processes and supports precise planning and track utilisation.

Telecommunications and Customer Service – automated review analysis
An AI system was implemented to intelligently analyse customer feedback and categorise reviews according to topic and sentiment. By continuously expanding the database and optimising model training, recognition has become much more precise and reliable. The automated sentiment analysis enables more efficient processing of customer concerns and improved service quality.

However, in order for AI applications to deliver reliable results, our project experience shows that three fundamental factors need to be considered in practice:

A well-processed and error-free database is essential for precise results.
2. Train models with your own data
Standard models alone are often not sufficient to fulfil specific requirements. Supplementary training data from real use cases significantly improves accuracy.
3. Conitnuously review results
AI models should be regularly validated and further developed to ensure optimal performance in the long term.
