Project Insight

Smart digitalization of manual load planning to optimize cargo utilization in the logistics industry

Development of an intelligent solution to automate manual utilization planning and optimal train allocation for Haeger & Schmidt Logistics, a leading logistics service provider with a focus on sustainable transport concepts for containers, steel products, heavy lift and project cargo along the Rhine corridor. Based on an intelligent algorithm that combines train schedules and information from transport management systems, the optimal loading strategies for freight trains are automatically calculated based on, among other things, container sizes, weight, departure and destination locations.

"Through automated planning based on intelligent calculation, we are taking a step further in the direction of digitalisation. Our clients in particular benefit from better plannability. The constantly changing data pose great challenges for our employees, which can be significantly reduced with the introduction of the algorithm. The risk of planning errors is also minimised."
