On October 14, 2021, COCUS AG, Seaport Wismarand Wirtschaftsförderung Wismarinvited to a joint event at InnovationPort Wismar to discuss the advanced technologies 5G and LoRaWan.
The event started in the halls of InnovationsPort Wismar with a warm welcome from Mr. Kremp, Managing Director of the Seaport, followed by an impressive presentation by Mr. Florian Lemke, Process and Project Manager of the Seaport on the topic of “Digitalization at Seaport Wismar using LoRaWAN”.
Mr. Lemke is actively involved in the entire LoRaWan (Long Range Wide Area Network) project, which is already being implemented together with COCUS on the port’s premises. In his contribution, the latest innovative developments and application of the technology, which is used for the acquisition of environmental data as well as the maintenance and servicing of plants (condition monitoring), were vividly presented.
Afterwards, our own Sascha Hellermann presented the private Open-RAN campus network of COCUS including applications. The 5G Open-RAN Campus network provided by COCUS contains its own 5G Packet Core and is entirely “future-proof” due to its open approach.
After the exciting presentations, the tasty buffet was opened by Kai & Cate, a Wismar-based caterer. Over delicious food and a drink or two, people were busy networking, holding exciting conversations, exchanging interesting ideas and making plans for a networked future.
Once again we would like to thank all participants as well as the local organizers and the COCUS team for this successful evening!

The seaport of Wismar is the reliable partner for logistics in the Baltic Sea region. The central location of the seaport of Wismar is ideal for north-south traffic between Scandinavia and Central Europe. But also due to the east-west connection from the Baltic States and Russia, the location plays an important role in the bundling and distribution of goods flows. This excellent geographic location is complemented by a well-developed and receptive hinterland connection. Modern handling technology and qualified personnel get a wide variety of goods on their way quickly and safely. Whether by sea, rail or road – we make it portable.
